Celebrities Who've Named Their Baby Something Unique
Celebrities who've named their baby something unique-2011 has quickly come to the end, and it's time to start looking back on what a year it was. Nothing brings more excitement and joy to a family than the addition of a new member, and this year has seen the birth of bunches of bundles of joy for celebrities. Celebrity baby names have become the subject of conversation lately, as the trend of late has been for stars to give their little boys and girls unique names.
Some celebrities played it more traditionally, like Craig Ferguson who named his son Liam. Actress Jennifer Connelly went with a name from a bygone era for daughter when she gave her the name Agnes. Reggae singer Ziggy Marley went old school with naming his son Abraham while "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon and her partner went with a cute modern name of Max for their newborn son.
When it comes to stars naming their babies though, some choose to think as far out of the box as they possibly can. Whether it's to have their children be able to stand out on their own one day, or just out of some desire to be "out there," sometimes celebrity baby names can leave you scratching your head. These are five celebrities who went with some non-traditional or unique names for their new additions this year.
Christina Applegate's - In January Applegate got some real life perspective that may help her with her role on NBC's sitcom "Up All Night" in which she plays a new mom in her mid-to-late 30s. Christina and her fiance decided to go with Sadie for their new, pink bundle of joy.
Mike Tyson - The former heavyweight champion and current king of cameos in films like "The Hangover" welcomed his newest son to the fold in late January. He and his wife gave their second child together the name Morocco Elijah.
Gretchen Mol - The star of "Boardwalk Empire" and "Donnie Brasco" gave birth to a new daughter in February. Gretchen and her husband named their second child Winter Morgan, though her older brother Ptolemy probably will hold the claim of the most unique name in the house.
Alicia Silverstone - She won't eat animal products, but she will name her kid after an animal. Silverstone, the 35-year-old star of "Clueless" and "Excess Baggage" and vegan cookbook author gave birth to her first child in May. She and her husband Christopher Jarecki gave their newborn son the name Bear Blu.
January Jones - When you're named after a month in the year, no one should be surprised if your pick of names for your newborn son is something out of the ordinary, or at least cool sounding. In September, the "Mad Men" star welcomed her son Xander Dane into her life. January is a single mom, and this is her first baby.
Pamela Redmond-Satran, co-founder of nameberry.com, concedes that “unique celebrity baby names are more normal in Hollywood and New York than they may be in the rest of the country.” She goes on to note, however,
“When your friends are named Shiloh and Suri and Kingston, it’s unlikely that having a unique name will make you stand out in anything but a positive way.”
Here is list of these names are more of the unusual kind, for those of you seeking more adventurous and "one of a kind" names for your baby .
