Unlikely Singing Sensation

Unlikely Singing Sensation, It's taken three years for it to happen, but Simon Cowell has found the new Susan Boyle.

The 52-year-old has apparently found the male version of the unlikely singing sensation in the form of 17-year-old Jonathan Antoine.

The shy, overweight teenager blew Cowell away with his audition on Britain's Got Talent in London yesterday and reminded the music mogul of former winner Boyle.

But it seems that before Antoine has even made it through to the next stage of the show, Cowell is already advising him on how to better his performances.

The curly-haired youngster didn't receive the best reception from the audience as he walked on stage - very similar to the response that Boyle had back in 2009.

He was joined by his singing partner, 16-year-old Charlotte Jaconelli, and managed to wow all four judges with his operatic voice.

'I think London may have the winner this year,' Cowell told the crowd at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo, before whispering to guest judge Carmen Electra: 'It was like Susan all over again.'

However, following his compliments, Cowell then told Antoine that he thinks he should go solo.

'We’ve come on here as a duo and we’re gonna stay as a duo,' the hopeful replied.

'My head says for you to dump her but my heart wants to say there was something magical to the two of you. So I’m saying yes,' he eventually said, after Electra and fellow judges David Walliams and Alesha Dixon had already said yes.

Following a standing ovation from the crowd, and a ticket to the next round of the reality show, Antoine and Jaconelli were no doubt feeling on top of the world - and so was Cowell.

'Loving London auditions @GotTalent , saw a 17 year old singer yesterday who is off the chart good,' he tweeted after the auditions.

Antoine, who is from Essex, has been friends with Jaconelli since they met in a music class two years ago.

His shy personality will bear many similarities to Boyle who wasn't well-received by the audience when she auditioned on the show back in 2009.

The Scottish star went on to make it to the final but lost out to dance act Diversity.

Since the show, Boyle has enjoyed success with three number one albums.
