Kristen Stewart New Movie Role

Kristen Stewart New Movie Role - Kristen Stewart has apparently beat Jennifer Lawrence to bag a new major movie role.

The 22-year-old actress - who is at the centre of a media storm after being caught cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson - is said to have landed a part in gritty drama Lie Down In The Darkness.

The movie is based on the 1951 novel of the same name by author William Styron and tells the story of a woman trying to escape her dysfunctional home life in 1950s Virginia.

Vulture reports that Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence, 21, was also being considered for the role.

Lawrence has been vocal in the past about her eagerness to play the part of Peyton Loftis in the Scott Cooper-directed movie.

She told W magazine recently that she was 'obsessed' with the role, adding: 'I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play.

'I worry about them - if someone else gets the part, I’m afraid they won’t do it right; they’ll make the character a victim or they’ll make her a villain or they’ll just get it wrong somehow.'

However, Lawrence is tied up with other filming commitments, including Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire - which starts filming in the autumn - and the new X-Men film from January.

Kristen, meanwhile, has gone to ground following her public apology to R-Patz last month for cheating on him with her Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

In the latest development, Sanders's wife Liberty Ross has apparently banned him from directing the sequel to the movie.

The 41-year-old filmmaker was lined up to return to the helm for the sequel - but Ross has warned him to stay away if he wants to save their marriage.

A source told RadarOnline.com: 'Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can't direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.

'They are trying to work things out after he was caught having an affair, and that is one of the sticking points. She just doesn't want him to ever work with Kristen again.'

The insider claimed studio Universal are prepared to find a new director as Rupert never signed an official contract and they are determined to keep their lead actress.

Stewart and Pattinson are both said to have moved out of their shared Los Angeles home following the actress' cheating confession.

But the estranged couple are now believed to be back in contact with one another.

However, friends say the British actor is not yet ready to forgive his 'Twilight Saga' co-star.

A source said: ''[They] have finally started talking to each other again but it doesn't seem like he is going to forgive her any time soon.'
