The New Kids on the Block are still hangin' tough: after a comeback tour last year, they just announced plans for a concert cruise that'll take fans to the Caribbean. That got us wondering, what have our other favorite boy bands been up to?
The New Kids - Danny Wood, Jordan Knight, Jon Knight, Donnie Wahlberg and Joey McIntyre - certainly aren't the only group ever to sell out stadiums and perform to crowds of screaming girls.
The Monkees - Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork - are often credited with being the first boy band back in 1965. The made-for-TV group caught plenty of flak from haters who thought they were a weak Beatles imitation - but the teenage girls who bought their records and merchandise didn't care.
Dolenz, who turns 64 this year, has found his voice in recent years as a radio personality.
Davy Jones is still performing, and wooing the ladies.
Peter Tork still performs, too, but he keeps his shirt on.
The Temptations are a legendary Motown group - more critical acclaim than most boy bands could ever hope for - but they did help introduce us to matching costumes and synchronized dance moves.
The Temptations hang out with Rev. Al Sharpton after a Black History Month performance in Washington, D.C., last year.
The Jackson Five were the number-one boy band of the '70s, with hits like 'I Want You Back' and 'I'll Be There.' Randy, Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Michael, and Jermaine had it all: stickers, posters, coloring books, even a Saturday morning cartoon.
Jermaine Jackson (not pictured) has said the entire group will reunite for a reunion tour in 2009. Above, l.-r., Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Randy Jackson.
And then there's Michael. The former King of Pop is also involved in reunion tour plans, Jermaine Jackson said.
Before he created the New Kids, producer Maurice Starr discovered another famous '80s boy band: New Edition, with members Ronnie Devoe, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Michael Bell and Michael Bivins.
Post-New Edition, Bell, Bivens and Devoe went on to form the group Bel Biv Devoe, while Bobby Brown had his own tumultous career and a rocky marriage to Whitney Houston. Above, the group and their producers reunite in 2008.
Latin America had its own boy band idols in the '80s: Menudo, which featured a rotating cast of young hunks including Ricky Martin (third from l.).
Martin went on to worldwide fame as an adult with songs like 'Livin' La Vida Loca.' He's also a new dad to twin boys.
