Katie Couric is set to make a guest appearance on the FOX musical sitcom "Glee" during its anticipated Super Bowl episode, which will air after the football championship game on Sunday.
"Glee", which tells of a high school glee club made up of misfits and popular kids, is currently on its second season and has so far featured celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos and Britney Spears. The cast members cover top 40 music as well as songs from Broadway musicals.
Warning: Spoiler alert!
Couric, a longtime U.S. television news personality who currently works as CBS' evening news anchor, says she will play herself and interview the show's villain, cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch.
"When I have that scene with Matthew Morrison, I think I raise the bar for him," Couric said in an interview provided by FOX, referring to the actor who plays glee club director Will Schuester. "I think I've got a performance out of him that really hasn't yet been seen in prior episodes. I think it was really fun. He's so cute. So nice and personable. He's so talented."
"We just got out there and tried to dance a little bit," she added. "I think maybe in my excitement I got a little too aggressive."
Couric also revealed her alternative career choice - she says she always wanted to be a Broadway actress.
"If I could only sing," she said. "That's kind of holding me back."
Couric told CBS News in October, following public controversy over a raunchy GQ magazine photo shoot involving three of the show's actors, as said that she watches "Glee" every week with her daughters and "commends the show for its ability to tackle tough subjects including homosexuality, death, disabilities and single parenthood."
Watch Katie Couric on "Glee" on FOX on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at about 10:30 p.m. ET. The episode features a tribute performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video (See sneak peek photos from the show).
