Tanning Mom Action Figure, A novelty company is looking to cash in on the 'tanorexic' mom controversy by unveiling a doll bearing the woman's heavily-bronzed likeness.
The action figure, which bears little resemblance to Patricia Krentcil other than a crisped complexion, went on sale this week.
Krentcil, 44, of Nutley, New Jersey, is accused of causing skin burns to her young daughter after she allegedly took her to a tanning salon.
She has said she loves tanning but claims that she wouldn't - and didn't - take her then-5-year-old into a tanning booth.
Krentcil pleaded not guilty last week to a child endangerment charge. She said her daughter got sunburned outdoors.
The blonde, orange-faced doll, complete with a black pantsuit, costs $29.95.
'Get one for all your TANOREXIC friends,' reads the product description on HeroBuilders.com.
The president and founder of the Oxford, Connecticut-based website, Emile Vicale, said everyone knows somebody who is into heavy tanning.
Mr Vicale said: 'We thought it was a funny thing to do.'
Mr Vicale started HeroBuilders in 2002 with a single George W. Bush action figure, according to the company website.
It has risen to notoriety in recent years with its action figures depicting various political figures, including Barack Obama, Dick Cheney, John McCain and Sarah Palin.
A phone number for Krentcil in Nutley rang unanswered Tuesday night.
Her attorney, John Caruso - who claims his client is '150 per cent innocent' - didn't return an after-hours message.
Even court appearances have not seemed to keep Krentcil away from the tanning salon, as she has sported an shockingly darker complexion in recent TV interviews than in her April 24 mugshot.
Reporters have swarmed around Krencil’s home after she appeared on the morning talk show circuit following the charges against her.
She has responded by the media circus with outlandish comments and obscene gestures at the waiting press - even attempting to douse them with water. tan mom arrested 5 year old daughter
She claims the whole dispute has been blown way out of proportion, and has blasted her critics as 'fat, ugly and jealous.'
