Teen Dies Playing Chicken, Passengers on board a northbound number two train had no idea that at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, their lead car struck a 17-year-old boy.
But as police officers emerged from in between the stopped cars, word spread quickly and those passengers were shaken up by what they heard.
Police sources working this investigation tell Pix11 the victim was one of three boys who were playing “chicken” with the oncoming train and he was the last one who tried – unsuccessfully – to cross the tracks before he was struck.

Passenger Donald Lumpkin said, “You could tell everybody was freaked out. You had kids crying and all of that. It’s crazy. A lot of people are shaken up right now – as you could see, I am.”
The incident caused severe delays on the 1, 2, and 3 trains.
This passenger says although the boy’s death was tragic – he believes it was avoidable.
“A few people who were on the train said they saw kids crying on the platform, and pointing underneath the train. So I’m assuming it was one of their kids that got hit”, John D’Alessandro told Pix11.
