Andrey C. Hicks, Kris Humphries Robbed by Wedding Guest! A hedge fund manager with whom Humphries invested hundreds of thousands has been arrested for running a $1.7 million investment scam. Kris Humphries can't catch a break. As if news that his wife Kim Kardashian filed for divorce today wasn't bad enough, Humphries, 26, is dealing with the fact that one of his wedding guests just stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from him!
According to TMZ, Boston hedge fund manager Andrey C. Hicks was a guest at Humphries and Kardashian's wedding back in August, but things have gone south for him since then. TMZ has learned that Hicks was allegedly running a $1.7 million investment scam where he was raising money for a billion-dollar hedge fund that didn't actually exist. He was arrested in Canada on Friday and was charged with wire fraud. Hicks is looking at up to 20 years in prison.
TMZ reports that Humphries had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in Hicks' hedge fund. His rep issued a statement saying: "Kris Humphries is a victim of an investment fraud. He is working with law enforcement authorities and will not have any further comment until the matter is resolved."
Kardashian, 31, was spotted going solo at the New York club Lavo on Saturday night, where she was dressed as Batman villainess Poison Ivy. She didn't respond to questions about the investment scam, but she did shrug off rumors that her marriage to Humphries was already on the rocks.
"I'm going to Australia tomorrow, so I'm in New York alone tonight," she explains to People. "Something I really prepared Kris for (was) to let him know that no matter what we do, there's going to be rumors. It used to really upset me and now I don't even think about it."
Just two days later, however, E! News has confirmed that Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries Monday, citing the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences." TMZ even has the court documents to prove it. Well, it was a great run while it lasted -- which was only 72 days!
