Leaf-Nosed Bat Vietnam

Leaf-Nosed Bat Vietnam, A new study has revealed that a new leaf-nosed bat has been found in Vietnam. It is a new species whose face bristles with leaf-like protrusions. It was almost mistaken for a known species in 2008 but now it has been proven genetically. There was a chance the bat might in fact be new to science, used nets to catch some of the docile animals.

The Vietnam Leaf-nosed Bat is a species of bat in the family Hipposideridae.

It is monotypic within the genus Paracoelops.

It is endemic to Vietnam. It is threatened by habitat loss.

The results of the study has also revealed that the bat issues calls at a different frequency from the great leaf-nosed bat, which hinted that the new found specimen is a new species.

Genetic results confirmed the species—named Hipposideros griffini—is genetically distinct.
