Al Tipper Gore Dating - Two years after Al and Tipper Gore announced their separation, both have found love.
The Washington Post’s Reliable Source blog first announced that the former presidential candidate was involved with environmental activist and philanthropist Elizabeth Keadle.
Now, it seems that Tipper, too, has met a special someone – the former editor-in-chief of National Georgraphic, Bill Allen.
Mrs Gore, 63, and Mr Allen, apparently have known each other for years, both sharing a deep interest for photography, and have been seen out together at dinner parties in Washington.
A source told People that the two are very comfortable together. ‘Life feels very simple and solid and happy for Tipper,’ the source said. ‘She and Bill have a really nice rapport.’
People notes that the Gores have no immediate plans to file for divorce; the estranged couple are both very active in the lives of their children and grandchildren and have recently taken them on vacation.
Mr Allen, 71, was at the helm of National Geographic for a decade, and retired in 2004 after working 35 years at the magazine.
Under his direction, National Geographic won many awards for its stunning photographs, as well as recognition from the American Society of Magazine Editors.
Ms Keadle, who hails from southern California, is in her 50s, and travelled to Antarctica with Mr Gore at the beginning of the year to raise awareness about climate change and global warming, according to the Post.
She and Mr Gore share a deep interest in environmental issues, and donated generously to conservation programs and oceanography studies around her San Diego suburb of Ranchero Santa Fe.
Ms Keadle, who is known as Liz, also donated heavily to the Democratic party. The Post reports that she and ex-husband Lyle Turner, a biotech entrepreneur, once gave more than $100,000 to a DNC fund.
According to the Huffington Post’s Fundrace, she most recently contributed $5,000 to the Obama Victory Fund, but has frequently given donations to the Democratic party.
After she divorced from Mr Turner, Ms Keadle dated attorney Nick Leibham, who ran and lost the race against Republican Rep Brian Bilbray in 2008.
It is unknown when she and Mr Gore became romantically involved, and Mr Gore’s office did not offer a comment on the relationship.
In a day and age when nearly everyone has a presence on social media, Twitter and Facebook pages for Ms Keadle could not be found.
The Post notes that she keeps a relatively low social profile, dubbing her ‘discreet,’ adding that is an important quality for one of the world’s most powerful men.
Mr Gore, 64, a Nobel laureate, announced in 2010 that he and his wife Tipper were separating after 40 years of marriage.
They have four children together, and have not yet divorced, despite their separation.
The Washington Post describes Ms Keadle as ‘independently wealthy, discreet,’ and ‘age-appropriate.’
On their January trip to the uninhabited continent, she and Mr Gore were accompanied by an diverse group of people, including Virgin billionaire Richard Branson, singer Jason Mraz, and actor Tommy Lee Jones.
At the time, Mr Gore called his separation from Tipper a ‘mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.’
The duo shocked political watchers after the announcement, as they were seen on throughout Mr Gore’s time as vice-president, and later on the 2000 campaign trail, as amorous and affectionate.
After Mr Gore lost the election to George W. Bush, he and Tipper, 63, returned to their estate in Tennessee, where Mr Gore began a life of public speaking and environmental advocacy.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his work on global warming. He once called it ‘the greatest challenge we’ve ever faced.’
His documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, won an Academy Award for Best Documentary.
Tipper herself rose to fame in the 1980s for her crusade against sexually-explicit and crude language in pop music.
