Rihanna and Chris Brown reconnect on Twitter
Rihanna and Chris Brown reconnect on Twitter... two years after assaultFor nearly two years they have had very little direct communication following Chris Brown's assault on Rihanna.
But all that changed yesterday when 23-year-old Rihanna, who has five million Twitter followers, decided to add Chris to the select group of 384 people she follows.
Shortly after that, Chris logged on to Twitter and followed her as well.
The infamous assault happened the night before the Grammy Awards back in 2009.
The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighbourhood as Chris drove a rented sports car.
A Los Angeles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating that Chris hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car.
He was arrested on February 8, hours after he was accused of beating Rihanna, his then girlfriend.
Brown's career suffered after his arrest, with sponsors dropping him and radio stations refusing to play his music.
Both he and Rihanna had to cancel several high-profile appearances, including planned performances at the Grammy Awards the day of the attack.
While they are only just following each other on the internet, several websites are already speculating that a reunion could be in store, despite Chris and Rihanna's past troubles.
In 2009, Chris was sentenced to five years' probation, six months of community labour and a year of domestic violence counselling.
Although in February of this year, the order was modified to allow Chris to be around Rihanna.
The flame haired singer was not in the courtroom at the time, but her lawyer, Donald Etra said: 'I have spoken with my client, and she does not object to it being modified.'
Brown's career didn't start to rebound until earlier this year.
Although he garnered more negative headlines after a bizarre outburst backstage at the morning chat show Good Morning America, while promoting his new CD.
But the avalanche of publicity that followed, likely helped his record sales, pushing his fourth album F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies) to the top of Billboard's 200 Album chart.
