Man threatens store over game, cops say, Police: Man threatened to blow up store over sold out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 video game. AURORA - Police say a man threatened to perform his own modern warfare after he learned Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was sold out at a local Best Buy.
Aurora Police Det. Bob Friel says 31-year-old Lomorin Sar was arrested early Tuesday morning after he threatened the employees at the Best Buy in the 3500 block of North Salida Court.
Witnesses told police Sar became angry and irate with the customer service desk shortly after midnight on Tuesday after they told him the video game he allegedly pre-ordered earlier in the day was no longer in stock.
Witnesses say Sar threatened store workers, asking when they were leaving and allegedly saying he would shoot them in the parking lot. Sar allegedly also told employees he would blow up the store.
Sar left the store and was pulled over by police near Tower Road and 35th Avenue after employees alerted the police.
"Investigating officers issued a criminal summons to a man who threatened to carry out his own version of modern warfare at the electronics store. Fortunately, this situation did not end in violence," Friel said.
Sar's anticipation for the game is not unique. Gamers like Matthew Martinez of Aurora have been waiting a long time for the release. Modern Warfare 3 has been hyped for months.
"I've been thinking about it all day just hoping they aren't sold out by the time I get off work," Martinez said.
Martinez shelled out $100 for the elite edition of the game. His buddies even went to the midnight release - joining thousands of die hard gamers across the country who couldn't wait to get their hands on it.
"They're really intense fanatics. It's all about getting to your top level as fast as you can. They probably won't even put the game down for days," Martinez said. blow up store sold out call of duty, call of duty blow up store arrested, call of duty blow up store arrested,
Sar was issued a summons for disorderly conduct. His court date has not been announced.
Nobody came to the door at Sar's house. 9NEWS has learned he has been contacted by Aurora Police six times as an adult on traffic-related matters.
This is not the first alleged crime involving the popular video game.
Over the weekend in France, men used tear gas to rob a delivery truck carrying 6,000 copies of the game. That shipment was worth more than $500,000.
"I think it's crazy," Martinez said. "Too much Modern Warfare."
A Best Buy spokesperson says the store is cooperating with investigators and says they cannot comment any further.
