Vicki Kennedy And Family Dispute - Looks like the Kennedy family are in for another scandal as the US political dynasty fight over the legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy, the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy who died in 2009 of brain cancer.
Senator Kennedy's widow Vicki is said to be embroiled in a bitter dispute with stepsons Edward Jnr and Patrick Kennedy over the mishandling of the $71 million Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate.
According to the Boston Globe, the sons feel left out of the project by their father's widow and are unhappy with the execution and cost of the ambitious plans.
A source revealed: “The children feel totally left out,’’
“Vicki totally controls the board.’’
The row has even spilled over to control of the Kennedy's iconic Hyannis Port compound, which the institute have control over. The home has been at the heart of the iconic family for nearly 100 years and has witnessed many of it's highs and lows.
John F. Kennedy was at the compound when he found out he had won the 1960 Presidential election and was the centre for mourning when he was assassinated three years later and again when his younger brother, Senator Robert F Kennedy was shot dead in 1968.
But now the institute are charging a rental fee for it's use that even applies to other family members who own property within the compound.
Taylor Swift, who is dating Conor Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jnr was not allowed to stay in the house over the July 4 weekend, which she spent with the family or reportedly use the swimming pool or lawn area as the feud continues.
Speaking of the concerns, Lee Fentress, a long-time friend of the senator who now chairs the board told the Globe that Edward Kennedy Jnr had communicated his grievances.
“He and I have had conversations about his concerns about the size and scope of the project,’’ he said.
“We have agreed to meet in the coming days to go over all this. I am convinced that once we do this, his commitments to the institution will be reinforced.’’
