Yankees Tickets Sex Line, Yankee fans looking for tickets may end up “scoring” off the field.
A toll-free phone number once used by the Bronx Bombers now belongs to a sex hot line where a sultry female voice guides callers through prompts.
A Google search for “Yankees box office phone number” yields an old Yankees.com Web page with 800-913-9793, now a sex line.
“Welcome to America’s hottest talk line,” the recording says. “Guys, hot ladies are waiting to talk to you. Press 2 to connect free now.”
The chat line connects “18 and over” callers for sexy chats, anonymous hook-ups and dates. Ladies use the service for free, and men get a five-minute trial at no cost.
Callers are asked to leave a recorded greeting with specifics about “what makes you desirable” and to “call whenever you’re in the mood.”
Users can then enter a PIN code to connect with the people behind the greetings for phone sex and casual encounters.
The Yankees’ official site listed the number under a blue banner reading, “A timeless legacy.”
A spokeswoman for the Yankees said the team stopped using the toll-free number in early 2009 and that the whole thing is an Internet quirk.
“It’s not a Yankee issue. It’s an idiosyncratic thing with Google,” said spokeswoman Alice McGillion.
She said callers used the “temporary” 800 number for seat relocations in 2008 and 2009. The team has no control over what happens after another company takes over a phone number it once used, she said.
It’s not the first time the sex-chat hot line has snatched up a widely used toll-free number. In February, readers of The Sacramento Bee newspaper discovered that “America’s Hottest Talk Line” had taken control of a number formerly used for subscription sign-ups, according to the California-based TV news station KCRA.
And cops in Florida the next month discovered that the same sex line had taken over a former hot line for domestic-violence victims, according to a local news station.
