Flight Cancellations Heathrow, Heavy Fog Envelopes London Airports, Grounds Flights, The Heathrow and London City Airports in the U.K. are experiencing heavy fog that has caused the cancellation of several flights Sunday.
At Heathrow Airport, at least 160 flights have been canceled, according to bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england. The London City Airport has had to suspend at least 44 flight and diverted others.
Heathrow representatives reported to the BBC News that some domestic passengers are being transported by bus and others have had to rebook their flights. Other passengers have arranged to stay overnight.
"The visibility at Heathrow Airport has been between one-sixteenth and one-half of a mile for most of the day Sunday," said AccuWeather meteorologist Eric Leister. "The fog could last through the evening hours before clearing sometime tomorrow morning."
Airline passengers traveling Sunday in and out of London are advised to contact their individual carriers for the most up-to-date cancellations and delays.
In addition to the flight issues, motorists are also advised to take extra travel precautions as the visibility will be greatly reduced.
