Infamous serial killers, To acknowledge the 35th anniversary of
David Berkowitz pleading guilty to the "Son of Sam" killings, we've
compiled a list of some of the world’s most infamous serial killer
cases.
The Bayou Strangler
Ronald Dominique was arrested in 2006 for
the rape and murder of a number of men throughout the previous 10 years.
The Bayou Strangler, as he became known, promised the men drugs or sex
to lure them, only to suffocate or strangle them later. Ronald Dominique
killed 23 men, Ronald Dominique sentenced to eight life sentences,
Ronald Dominique from the Bayou Blue area of Louisiana, Ronald Dominique

The Chessboard Killer
Alexander
Pichushkin also known as the Chessboard Killer is a Russian serial
killer who took the lives of at least 48 individuals. He lured many of
his victims with the promise of vodka, only to kill them a short time
later. Pichushkin was finally arrested in the summer of 2006 after years
of killing. Pichushkin has said his aim was to kill 64 people, the
number of squares on a chessboard, Pichushkin murders for 14 years,
Alexander Pichushkin struck on head with swing, damage to the frontal
cortex of his brain, Alexander Pichushkin told judge there were 60
victims, Pichushkin sentenced to life in prison with first 15 years in
solitary confinement,
The Railroad Killer
Angel
Maturino Reséndiz was an illegal immigrant who killed about 15 people in
the U.S. starting in the late 1980s and continuing through the 1990s.
After his capture, Reséndiz also confessed to a number of murders in his
homeland. He was known as "The Railroad Killer" because many of the
murders took place close to rail tracks. Angel Reséndiz rode trains
illegally to escape, Angel Reséndiz sentenced to death, Holly Dunn
survived Angel Reséndiz's attack, Holly Dunn runs nonprofit called
Holly's House that assists the victims of sexual and domestic violence,
Angel Reséndiz's sister Manuela helped in his capture,
The Spokane serial killer
Robert
Lee Yates killed at least 16 people, mostly women over the course of 23
years starting in 1975. The majority of the murders took place in
Spokane, Wash. Robert Lee Yates victims were prostitutes, Robert Lee
Yates is on death row at the Washington State Penitentiary, Robert Lee
Yates initially sentenced to 408 years in prison and later sentenced to
death, Christine Smith escaped Robert Lee Yates,
Luis Garavito
Luis
Garavito has been called the world’s worst serial killer for murdering
at least 189 boys in Colombia in the 1990s. The total number of victims
of "The Beast," as Garavito is called, could actually be closer to 300.
Most of the victims had this in common. Luis Garavito killed poor
children who lived on streets, Luis Garavito sentence reduced because he
confessed to the crimes and helped authorities locate bodies, Luis

The Green River Killer
Gary
Ridgway was convicted of killing 49 women throughout the 1980s and
1990s, although the number he confessed to killing is quite a bit
higher. Ridgway is known as the Green River Killer for the location
where some of the victims were found. Gary Ridgway confessed to killing
71 women, Gary Ridgway is in the Washington State Penitentiary, Gary
Ridgway was arrested in 2001, Gary Ridgway victims were prostitutes,

The Milwaukee Cannibal
Jeffrey
Dahmer also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, killed 17 male victims
between the years of 1978 and 1991. He met some of the victims at gay
bars and would invite them to his home, only to kill them a short time
later. He was arrested in July of 1991, sentenced in 1992 and died in
1994. Jeffrey Dahmer was beaten to death in prison, Jeffrey Dahmer
kept some of his victims body parts at home, Tracy Edwards escaped from

The Rostov Ripper
Andrei
Chikatilo also known as the Rostov Ripper murdered over 50 women and
children in Russia between 1978 and 1990. He evaded police for years but
was finally arrested in November of 1990. majority of Andrei Chikatilo

The Frankford Slasher
The
Frankford Slasher refers to a possible serial killer in the Frankford
area of Philadelphia during the years between 1985 and 1990. A number of
female victims were found murdered there; however, the cases remain
unsolved. The Frankford Slasher 8 or 9 victims, The Frankford Slasher
described as a middle-aged white man, Leonard Christopher convicted of
one of the Frankford Slasher murders,
The Moorhouse murders
Husband
and wife David and Catherine Birnie were a serial-killing duo who took
the lives of four women in Australia in the 1980s. The Moorhouse murders
would have included a fifth victim but she managed to escape and alert
police. The Birnies were arrested in November 1986 and later pled guilty
to murder. David and Catherine Birnie, murders took place at the Birnie
home on Moorhouse Street, David and Catherine Birnie sentenced to life

Robert Hansen
murdered at least 17 women in Alaska in the early 1980s. The case
horrified the public as Hansen reportedly flew his victims into the
wilderness and then chased them down and killed them. Robert Hansen
sentenced to 461 years in prison, Robert Hansen caught after would-be
final victim escaped,
The Scorecard Killer
Randy Kraft
murdered at least 16 men throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. The
Scorecard Killer lured his victims with alcohol and drugs before he
tortured and killed them. Randy Kraft called the Scorecard Killer
because he had a coded list or scorecard of his victims, Randy Kraft is
on death row at the San Quentin State Prison, Randy Kraft also known as

The Atlanta Child Murders
At
least 28 people, mainly children and young adults, were murdered in
Atlanta from1979 to 1981. Wayne Williams was convicted of two of the
murders and blamed by many for the others, but he has always insisted he

The Freeway Killer
William
Bonin along with a number of accomplices, murdered at least 21 teenage
boys in 1979 and 1980. The Freeway Killer showed no remorse for his

Rodney
Alcala also known as the Dating Game Killer killed between eight and

The Killer Clown
John
Wayne Gacy, Jr. also known as the Killer Clown killed at least 33 young
men, mostly teenagers, in 1970s. After assaulting and murdering his
victims, Gacy buried them in and around his home. John Wayne Gacy

Ted Bundy
Ted
Bundy killed at least 30 girls and young women in the 1970s. One of the
world's most notorious serial killers, Bundy used different aliases and
personas to gain his victims' trust before assaulting and killing them.
He managed to escape the authorities twice before finally being caught

Son of Sam
David Berkowitz also known as
the "Son of Sam" killed six people and wounded seven others in a
year-long shooting spree in New York City in the 1970s. Because many of
Berkowitz's victims had long dark hair, females across the city cut and
dyed their hair a different color to try to escape the killer. Berkowitz
in Sullivan Correctional Facility in New York State, Berkowitz called

The Candy Man
Dean Corll
killed at least 28 young men, mostly teenagers, in Houston in the early
1970s. Called the "Candy Man" and the "Pied Piper" because his family
ran a candy factory in town, Corll had two accomplices to help lure his
young victims. David Brooks and Wayne Henley, accomplice Wayne Henley
killed Dean Corll, Dean Corll paid accomplices $200 for each victim they

The Zodiac Killer
The
individual referred to as the Zodiac Killer was a serial killer in
California in the 1960s and ‘70s. The killer, who sent a number of
cryptic messages to the press was never caught and, in a number of
California counties, the cases remain open. Zodiac Killer referred to
self as the Zodiac, Zodiac Killer suspects, Zodiac Killer claimed 37
victims but police confirm only seven,
The Machete Murderer
Juan
Corona also known as the Machete Murderer for the gruesome tool he used
on his victims, killed 25 men in California in 1971. Juan Corona
sentenced to 25 life terms, Juan Corona treated for schizophrenia, Juan
Corona received shock treatment for schizophrenia, Juan Corona victims
were migrant workers,
The Plainfield Ghoul
Ed Gein
known as the Plainfield Ghoul for his grave-hunting activities in
Plainfield, Wis., was also convicted of murdering two women in the
1950s. Parts of his victims' bodies and other human remains, some of
which came from corpses Gein removed from graves, were later found in
his home. Ed Gein found to be legally insane, Ed Gein inspiration for

Albert Fish also known as
the Werewolf of Wysteria and the Boogey Man, killed at least four
children in the 1920s. Fish, who also confessed to cannibalism, was

Nelson also known as the Gorilla Killer killed at least 22 women in the
U.S. and Canada in 1926 and 1927. Nelson was finally captured in the

Jack the Ripper
Jack
the Ripper is an infamous serial killer who killed a number of women in
London in the late 1800s. The Ripper’s victims were often found with
their throats and abdomens cut. Jack the Ripper victims mostly
prostitutes, Jack the Ripper name came from letter written by someone
