Discontinued room service

Discontinued room service, If you’ve been dreaming of going to New York’s largest hotel, the Hilton Midtown, sleeping in until noon and ringing for breakfast in bed, you’re in for a rude awakening. They're discontinuing room service. Any vacationing Romeos trying to impress their dates with a bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries will have to pick them up at the grab-and-go cafeteria the hotel will be offering instead as of August.

We predict Midtown will spend August echoing with the deafening clatter of little old rich ladies clanging bells furiously as maids roll their eyes in the hallway, but don't think of boycotting: Hilton's spokesman is confident more hotels will follow their lead: "I don't think anyone makes a profit on room service because of its labor costs." Translation: you should have tipped better.
