New York Yankees co-owner and managing partner Harold Steinbrenner was sued by the U.S. Justice Department over an “erroneous” $670,494 tax refund he received in 2009.

The complaint, filed Dec. 27 in Tampa, Florida federal court, seeks to reclaim the funds issued to Steinbrenner on Dec. 28, 2009. The refund stemmed from disputes between Steinbrenner and the Internal Revenue Service over the 2001 tax year and audits of the Major League Baseball team’s parent company for 2001 and 2002, according to court papers.

A Kent County judge declared that a man who had sex with people without telling them that he had HIV is a "danger to the public safety."

David Dean Smith was formally charged Wednesday with having sex with a second victim in Grand Rapids without telling her he was infected.

Smith, 51, turned himself into Grand Rapids police on Dec. 22. Authorities said Smith told them he intentionally had unprotected sex with as many people as he could over the past three years -- and he claimed that there were thousands of people. He said his plan was to infect them with HIV, which was meant to kill them, court records show.

"American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson wandered into presidential politics with an endorsement of Ron Paul, then defended her candidate against accusations of racism.

Father arrested and charged with aggravated assault after posting photo of his child bound with tape to Facebook

A young father was arrested yesterday after he posted a photo on Facebook of his 22-month-old daughter bound and gagged.

Andre Curry, from South Side, Chicago,was charged with aggravated domestic battery after police and state welfare officials opened an investigation into the picture, which had a caption saying: 'This is wut happens when my baby hits me back.'

It showed his daughter with blue duct tape over her mouth and her wrists bound together in front of her as well as at her ankles.

Selena Gomez has cancelled two concert dates after her mother reportedly suffered a miscarriage.
